Coaching: Everyone Agrees It's Important, but Few Know How

Monday, May 23, 2016 6:30-8:00pm
Facilitator: Bob Britton

What is coaching?  Everybody seems to have their own definition, but the aim of coaching is always the same: to help somebody meet a specific goal.  How we coach somebody to meet their goals is where most people differ, and some methods are more effective than others.  There’s been a lot of research done in how to influence a person’s behavior, and you’ll learn the basics of a modern, very effective technique.

What’s the difference between coaching and mentoring?  When should coaching be used?  How do you know if you’ve been coached?  How long does it take to coach somebody?  Just how important and effective is coaching in business today?  These are some of the questions we’ll discuss, plus you’ll have a chance to practice coaching with each other in the workshop.

Bob Britton, Director of Sales Training at Dell Services in Plano, has led sellers, led global training groups, trained on six continents (hasn’t made it to Antarctica – yet), and is currently heading up the development of a global sales force.

One of his passions is to help others find that balance of art and science in sales that makes them successful.

Bob is originally from Boston but he does pronounce his “R’s”. Plus, he’s a “wicked big” Red Sox fan! Bob’s session will be fun and conversational. You can learn more about Bob (“What About Bob?”) at https://www.linkedin.com/in/brittonrobert.
