VHA - 2014 Best Place to Learn Winner - Leadership Development

When VHA began crafting a new strategic plan, the timing was right for the OD Department to influence the Executive Team. The goal--to understand that having engaged and effective leaders would dramatically increase the likelihood of implementing the strategic plan successfully.

A new Leadership Development Program was then crafted based on data from employee engagement surveys, the need for culture change, and a desire to enhance VHA’s employee proposition for attracting, developing and retaining leaders.


The Leadership Development process begins with a strategic approach to selecting participants that links to talent development and succession planning, with senior executives who not only lead program sessions, but are also actively involved in the selection, coaching, and mentoring of participants. There are qualitative and quantitative metrics that track learning results and business impact, making this program an exemplar that ATD Dallas wants to recognize.

At the meeting, the VHA team will showcase techniques for

• Linking leadership development to business strategy
• Developing a holistic framework for leadership development
• Re-orienting leadership development from training to learning
• Creating a culture of leaders learning from leaders

Parking
Visitor parking is located on the side of the building facing Hwy 114.

Entering the building
Visitors will be greeted in the lobby and escorted to the conference center for the meeting.
