Learning & Development EDU SIG: Diving in For Growth

In this session, we will together explore how in four years, Justin F. Kimball High School’s Academy of Engineering has grown to become Dallas ISD’s only Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Certified and National Academy Foundation (NAF) Distinguished program. We will discuss the steps they utilized and learn about the “Deep Dive” process utilized to achieve their success.

The participants should be able to:

• Comprehend how to grow a program
• Understand the “Deep Dive” process
• Better appreciate financing through grants and fundraisers
• Understand how to build an advisory board

Tracey Giardina is an educator and the current Director of the Justin F. Kimball High School Academy of Engineering within the Dallas Independent School District. Tracey and her team strategically lead the initiatives to earn prestige and assistance to successfully build the Kimball High Schools engineering program to one of excellence and notoriety. Tracey is a graduate of Prairie View A&M with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and also of Texas A&M University with an M.S. in Mathematics.
