Thank you for your interest in serving on the Board of Directors for the ATD Dallas Chapter. A strong and active Board ensures the success and wellbeing of the chapter as we strive to make Dallas the “Talent Development Capital of the World” through Access, Recognition, and Expertise.


Serving on the ATD Dallas Board of Directors is one of the most rewarding ways to grow as a professional, expand your network, and make a lasting impact on the talent development community. As a volunteer leader, you’ll help shape the strategy, culture, and future of the chapter while developing valuable leadership, communication, and project management skills.

Board Membership & Responsibility

The Board consists of 8–15 leaders representing the talent development field. It is the responsibility of the Board to:

  • Develop, approve, and implement strategic plans that support the ATD Dallas value proposition
  • Establish policy for chapter operations
  • Manage the chapter budget
  • Recruit leadership, foster volunteerism, and support committees to deliver value to members
  • Perform other functions to ensure the success of the chapter


Board Eligibility

Interested candidates must be members in good standing of ATD Dallas and ATD National. A career in the Talent Development field is preferred, but a strong commitment to the profession is essential.

Each area may also have one or more Director/Lead roles available to support the Vice President and ensure strong committee leadership.


Board Terms & Limits

Board Members are elected annually to serve terms of one (1) year or until their successors are chosen, except for the President-Elect and Senior Advisors.

  • President-Elect: Serves for two years — Year 1 as President-Elect and Year 2 as President. It is preferred that a third year be served as Past President.
  • Senior Advisors: Serve two-year staggered terms.
  • Vice Presidents: Serve one-year terms and may stand for re-election for a second term.

      Selection Process

      1. Post position on ATDDallas.org for a minimum of two weeks
      2. Candidates submit an expression of interest and résumé
      3. Initial Conversation: Conducted by a member of the Nominating Committee (President-Elect, Senior Advisor, or Committee Member)
      4. Nominating Committee reviews candidates and determines next steps
      5. Second Conversation: Conducted by the President-Elect or another Board member
      6. Committee submits recommendations to the Board
      7. Notification sent to candidates
      8. Membership vote conducted on ATDDallas.org for a minimum of two weeks
      9. Official announcement to the chapter
