They come in many guises developer, engineer, scientist… the Highly Technical Subject Matter Expert. Do you rely on Techie SMEs for information? Is it hard to get what you need?  Does it seem like they speak a different language?  Well, guess what - they do!  Welcome the Sheldonian Conundrum.  Come learn the secrets of SME to Instructional Designer translation and how to use them to make your job easier.

About the Presenters:

Kathryn Poe is a Sr. Trainer/ID, Fellow of the Society for Technical Communication, a Certified Scrum Master, and experienced Techie Whisperer.  She’s spent a career making the complex understandable and in verticals including Software, Manufacturing, Finance, and Telephony.  She currently creates and delivers training in the legal software space for ELM Solutions.

Stephen D. Poe started as a developer and moved into Software Development management. He later transitioned into first Product Management and then Agile and Scaled Agile (SAFe) coaching and implementation for software development groups. His SME bona fides include stints on two international and one national standards organizations (W3C, ISO/CEN, and ANSI). He holds SPC4, CSM, CSPO, PMC, and EDP certifications. He continues to coach, train, teach, and stay technical.

All members of Dallas ATD are welcome to attend any SIG any time. All non-members please feel free to join us for up to 2 sessions at a SIG. After 2 sessions, to provide ongoing chapter support to the SIG, we would encourage you to join the chapter.
