Dallas ATD Learning & Development EDU Special Interest Group

Hosted by: Amanda Preston, Lisa Bevington, Tonya Knox and Julie Mitchell

Monday, March 5, 2018 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Facilitator: Tonya Knox

Talent development professionals utilize their knowledge and skills to influence their audience’s future; therefore, understanding the components of influence and learning to maximize positive influence will enhance overall effectiveness and increase efficiency. If the ability to influence is a primary leadership trait, then we are all truly leaders in our own right! Influence is a trait we can all learn to maximize with mindfulness of our desires and circumstances.

In this session participants will:

  • identify the areas and situations they wish to improve their personal influence level
  • discuss common barriers to positive influence and the importance of identifying opportunities to increase levels of constructive influence
  • break down the components of influence

At the end of the session, the participants should be able to:

  • Better understand their current spheres of personal and professional influence and areas they desire to increase their influence
  • Analyze their influence style and approach and determine where adaptions may be considered
  • Improve effectiveness by learning best practices and tools to support their success
  • Increase their confidence by practicing their influence using the tools shared
