2021 February Chapter Meeting: Applying Virtual Reality to Solve OJT Needs

  • 23 Feb 2021
  • 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
  • Online

Facilitated by: Doug Donovan and James Garrett
Tuesday, February 16, 2021, 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM Central Standard Time

Are you prepared to address the incoming pipeline of unskilled workers to your organization?    With the ever-increasing rate of change in technology and the workplace in general, along with the aging and retirement of millions of experienced workers, many organizations are refocusing efforts to formalize On-the-Job (OJT) training to better ensure the transfer of knowledge from seasoned employees to entry-level professionals.

TDIndustries was facing just such a challenge with their HVAC technicians.  These changing dynamics exposed the need to accelerate the development of new, entry-level professionals critical to the sustainment of the industry.  Join us on February 16 for an engaging conversation of how a construction industry company partnered with Interplay Learning to quickly develop new HVAC technicians through an innovative approach to on-the-job training using virtual reality.  Then, explore with your colleagues you could leverage a similar approach to transform OJT at your company.

Event objectives (three would be helpful):

  • Identify the common challenges for applying effective on-the-job training that rapidly transfers knowledge from seasoned professionals to entry-level workers.
  • Explore common options for addressing the skill gaps of entry level employees through OJT
  • Devise a strategy for leveraging virtual reality and/or online simulations to solve the need of effective OJT for distributed workforces

Agenda:

5:30 – 6:00 Welcome, Networking, and Introductions

6:00 – 6:45 Presentation from Doug Donovan and James Garrett

6:45 – 7:00 Wrap-Up
