BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Dallas ATD Chapter will host a fireside chat with Ben Dilla, PhD who is the managing director of Bold Leader Development, applying positive psychology in leadership coaching, training and consulting, and a management professor in the Gupta College of Business at The University of Dallas.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Attendees will understand how their natural strengths are the cornerstone of emotional intelligence
- Attendees will learn how to use any strength to develop emotional intelligence
- Attendees will learn how emotional intelligence can become a regulator in how we use our strengths
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Ben Dilla is Managing Director and Executive Coach with Bold Leader Development (BLD LLC). Ben is an ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Board Certified Coach (BCC), and Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. He is certified on a variety of assessment tools including CliftonStrengths, DISC, MBTI, Emotional Intelligence 2.0, and Motivation Code (M-CODE).
Ben earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Sciences & Leadership from the U.S. Air Force Academy and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Purdue University. In addition to his coaching and facilitation work through Bold Leader Development, he serves as Director, Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program and Affiliate Assistant Professor of Management in the Gupta College of Business at The University of Dallas.
Ben served in the U.S. Air Force as a Behavioral Scientist, providing education, training, and Organizational Development consulting services. He has 20 years of corporate and consulting experience in a variety of industries including healthcare, financial services, transportation, retail, and technology. He served as Director of Leadership Development for UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Health & Hospital System. He is an active member of the local Dallas-Fort Worth Organizational Development Network (ODN) and the International Coaching Federation (ICF) North Texas chapter.
In 2021, Ben published his first book, Your Best Self at Work: Aligning Strengths, Emotional Intelligence, and Resilience, co-authored with Dr. Joel B. Bennett, President of Organizational Wellness & Learning Systems (OWLS). This book, written as a story about a first-time manager embarking on a development journey for greater engagement and effectiveness, summarizes Ben’s approach to professional development and coaching using many of the best evidence-based concepts for enhancing leadership and influence.
