The Basics of Mobile Learning
Presented by Dave Livingston

In this talk Dave will cover the basics of mobile learning (what it is and what it isn't) and how to define it for your organization. He will also cover some of the technical considerations and common pitfalls when designing a mobile learning solution. During the discussion he will attempt to help you answer the following questions:

• Do I need a mobile learning solution?
• Should I build an app or use something that already exists?
• How does a mobile solution fit in with my current infrastructure or LMS?
• How do I find the right partner/developer to build a mobile learning solution?
• What devices should I support or develop for?
• What kind of content works best on a mobile device?

About the speaker

Dave Livingston is a ten year veteran of designing and building online and mobile solutions to improve learning using technology. His previous company BrainBand was ranked as one of DFW’s largest Web design and Web hosting companies in 2008, was the founder of the DFW Wireless Users Group and has been featured multiple times in the Dallas Morning News and Dallas Business Journal. In the last several years he has been working in the K-12 education space creating mobile learning tools for classroom teachers, students and administrators. He believes technology has an important role to play in education and places a strong focus on quality content and delivering an effective, pleasurable learning experience.

All members of Dallas ASTD are welcome to attend any SIG any time. All non-members please feel free to join us for up to 2 sessions at a SIG. After 2 sessions, to provide ongoing chapter support to the SIG, you will be expected to join Dallas ASTD by paying the annual dues of $115.
